Updates to Our Online Request System -Starting 1st October

From 1st October, our practice website will become the main way for patients to request medical appointments and submit administrative queries.

How to Use the Online Request System

  • Requests can be submitted Monday to Friday between 8am and 6:30pm.
  • Medical requests are for non-urgent appointments and may take up to 1 working day to be processed.
  • Administrative queries (such as repeat prescriptions, sick notes, or other paperwork) can also be submitted online – removing the need to call us.

Submitting your request via our online form ensures we gather the necessary information to action your query appropriately.

What happens when you contact your practice to request an appointment?

Whether you make your request by phone, online or visiting your practice, you may be asked to give your practice some details so that they can assess what is best for you based on your clinical need. The practice team will consider your request for an appointment or medical advice and tell you within one working day what will happen next.

This could be:

  • An appointment that day or a subsequent day
  • A phone call that day or a subsequent day
  • A text message responding to your query
  • Advice to go to a pharmacy or another NHS service

Your practice will decide what is best for you based on your clinical need.

A Fairer Booking System

All requests will be directed into a single inbox, where our Care Navigators will review them. They will:

  • Signpost you to the most appropriate service, or
  • Book you into an appointment with one of our clinicians.

This approach replaces the old “first come, first served” model, creating a fairer system where patients are seen based on clinical need rather than call times. This means that those who need urgent support will be prioritised, while others may be booked in over the following days or directed to the most suitable service provider.
